POA Board of Directors

The San Josť POA Board of Directors are made up of three executive positions: President, Vice-President and CFO; and 12 Director positions. Elections for Executives and Directors are held in accordance with the Bylaws. All terms are 2 years in length, pending re-election. The SJPOA Directors are devoted to protecting the rights and benefits of all San Josť Police Officers.


James has been with the San Jose Police Department since 2001 and on the Board of Directors since January of 2010. He has worked in various areas of the city on patrol, in the Special Operations Division METRO unit conducting narcotic and street crime enforcement, and as a detective in the Family Violence Unit.

James has worked on improving the Association's technology and communications both with its membership and the public. He was a key part in developing and has been a frequent opinion contributor since its inception in 2009.
