Our Department currently utilizes one helicopter for policing purposes of deterring crime and providing Community Policing support to our community.

POA Board of Directors

The San Josť POA Board of Directors are made up of three executive positions: President, Vice-President and CFO; and 12 Director positions. Elections for Executives and Directors are held in accordance with the Bylaws. All terms are 2 years in length, pending re-election. The SJPOA Directors are devoted to protecting the rights and benefits of all San Josť Police Officers.

David Woolsey has been a Police Officer with the City of San Jose since May of 2001. He has been assigned to Patrol, the Megan's Law Detail, Background Investigations, and the Gang Investigations Unit. In August 2010 he was promoted to Police Sergeant. In July 2011 he was one of the many victims of the City's budget cuts and was demoted back to Officer. Seven and a half months later, in January 2012, he was re-promoted. David is currently working as a Sergeant in the Bureau of Investigations.

David was appointed to the Board in January 2012. He was then elected by the Membership to serve another term. David believes that this is one of the most trying times our Department has ever faced. He is committed to helping the Membership through this controversial era, and is honored to serve on the Board of Directors.

Prior to being hired with the City of San Jose, David worked as a Police Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department for over five and a half years. He was assigned to Patrol, the Hollywood Division Bicycle Unit, and as a Field Training Officer.
