San Jose Police Chaplain
I am excited to be a part of the San Jose Police Chaplaincy. Starting in May of 2016 I will be working alongside Jim Becknall as Chaplain. This journey started back in 2011 when Dave Bridgen and I were talking about his work with SJPD and he told me about an opportunity to serve as a volunteer Community Chaplains. I have been a Community Chaplain since then and have enjoyed being available to serve by being on call two days a month. Jim Becknall and I talked in 2015 about the need for a second Chaplain since Dave Bridgen retired. Jim asked me to put my name in the hat, and I am glad that the Chaplaincy Board offered me the position.
I grew up in San Jose and graduated from Santa Teresa High School. I then went to San Jose Christian College. Since 1992 I have been working with students and their families. In my role as pastor I have had opportunities to come alongside people in their good times and their tough times. I knew early on in life that God called me to serve people by caring for them and encouraging them. My life is different today because of the people that have poured into me. It has been such a blessing pouring into others and being there to support them. I married Marlene in 2002 and we love serving others together. We are looking forward to getting to know our new SJPD family. Marlene and I have been blessed with two girls and are busy keeping up with them. I am often seen going for a walk in my neighborhood with my family and our dogs. I love going over to Santa Cruz and hanging out at the beach but I also love going up into the mountains and being out in nature. I enjoy hiking, camping, and mountain biking. I am looking forward to getting to know you and being able to support the SJPD family.
